There are plenty of places that are shaded on this beach. At this same stop is the Koox hotel where the all inclusive beach day is $20 a person which includes an open bar all day, lunch, use of the beach chairs and loungers. The open air shuttle has 6 stops once you arrive in town. Instead we simply went into town 5 min away (Mahahual) for $3 a person. The tour booth tried to sell us an all inclusive to Senior Frogs for $60 a person. Simply walk through the shopping area past the pool you will find the exit where the tour operators and taxis gather. If you are looking for an all inclusive beach day, try the Koox Hotel next to Senior Frogs. It was well worth it! We will definitely go back to see Alfonso the next time we are in Costa Maya!!! The surroundings and service were beyond compare! Loved every minute of it! Be sure to look for him if you decide to go there! We booked here and paid $35 per person for the day!.

The Nachos are yummy and the food is great and priced reasonably! Alfonso got us drinks, organized our massages (20 - 30 USD an hour), told us where to shop, and treated the 9 people in our party with the utmost care all day! He even called us a cab to take us back to the ship (hey Alfonso did the driver turn in a cell phone?) He was pleasant, helpful, efficient, and made the day GREAT! He is a true asset to Pez Quadro. We had one of the best days of our vacation!! Alfonso Perez met us upon our arrival at the 4th stop on the cheap priced ($3)shuttle!! Walked us through the check in and got us settled on the beautiful white sand beach under the palm trees with our comfy beach loungers! He couldn't do enough for us that day! In no uncertain terms he made our trip to Costa Maya and Pez Quadro worth it! The snorkeling was minimal but very nice if you walked down the beach to the right (if you're facing the water) there is quite a bit to see! The water is beautiful, clear, and warm (even for January). Where to begin!?! I read the other reviews here and decided to trust them and head to Pez Quadro! Boy are we glad we did. Truly a great time and a definite highlight of our trip. We did a little kayaking and a brief swim, but mostly just relaxed in the hammocks and enjoyed the day. It's a very small intimate resort, about 7 cabanas, restaurant, lovely beach area and very very private. Lunch was included and we enjoyed fajitas, rice, fruit and beverages in the lovely resort restaurant. What a treat absolutely one of the prettiest little resorts I've ever been to. After our time at the Ruins we went to the Seven Color Lagoon and the Bacalar Resort.

Our guide was so informative and explained a lot about the region and the country as we drove to the ruins and then was just easy to follow and listen to as he described the ruins and what the Mayan culture was all about. Other than that it was a wonderful learning experience. The only problem (and it wasn't really a problem) was the walk from the cruise pier to the Native Choice Location (they should really have a bus come down closer to the pier to pick people up).

I did it all on line before we left and paid in full and had no problems whatsoever. We went with Native Choice Tour and it was a great experience. we decided to go with a local company instead of the ship excursion. We wanted to do a tour of the ruins but also get in a little bit of "water" time so we choose this excursion.
